Keller completed the work in less than three months and overcame the challenges through proper planning, especially the mobilization of machineries.
The project
On a reclaimed area at Tanjung Puteri, Johor Bahru, Malaysia a luxury residential building is to be constructed. The residential building consists of 23 blocks of 4,000 no. of units. Keller delivered a ground improvement solution to improve the soil in the area where the residential building is to be built.
The challenge
The main challenge was no land access, all the machinery and materials need to be transported using marine barges. Proper planning of the transportation of materials and machinery was required.
The solution
Working near a busy highway and existing structures, Keller installed more than 17,300 lin m of Vibro stone columns using wet method to improve the soil and to enhance the stability of the reclaimed slope embankment. The work involved installation of 1 m diameter stone columns to depths down to 13 m.
